About

Paula Paradis — Art Quilter & Educator.

Paula Paradis is an award-winning art quilter whose work combines vibrant color, storytelling, texture, and dimensional embellishment. Her quilting journey began unexpectedly in her early twenties after wandering into a quilt shop and signing up for a beginner class — a moment that quickly grew into a lifelong creative passion.

For more than 30 years, Paula has created expressive quilts that range from the whimsical to richly layered art quilts. Her work often incorporates appliqué, thread painting, hand stitching, embellishment, and bold use of color to create pieces filled with personality, movement, and emotion.

Alongside her creative work, Paula is a practicing Doctor of Physical Therapy with over 25 years of experience. Her expertise in movement, posture, and injury prevention informs her teaching, most notably in her lecture Stitch Smartly: Ergonomics for Sewists and Quilters, where art and science come together to support creative longevity.

A passionate participant in Challenge Quilts, Paula enjoys pushing creative boundaries and interpreting themes through fabric and texture. Many of her quilts have received awards, including multiple Viewer's Choice recognitions. Through her work, she hopes to inspire joy, curiosity, and connection while sharing the stories that can be told through textiles.
